Conference Arrival

Picture
The conference commences at noon on Friday, February 18, at the Nasher Museum of Art Sculpture Garden with a processional to the Rubenstein Arts Center (the "Ruby").

Attendees may check in to pick up their conference badge and program at the information table in the lobby on the first floor of the Ruby from 11AM-7PM on Friday; 8:30AM-7PM on Saturday; and 8:30AM-10AM on Sunday.

Free parking is available to conference attendees in the Campus Drive lot (entrance on Anderson) across the street from the Ruby.  Please note you are responsible for your finding and paying for your own parking in all other campus locations.

The conference shuttle will run from the AC Hotel continuously on Friday (every half hour) to the Ruby, and later from the Reynolds Theatre (where the Urban Bush Women performance will be held) to the hotel.

COVID Protocols and Updates

We are requiring attendees to be masked at all times, except if actively presenting/speaking and socially distanced from other presenters/attendees, or while eating and drinking.  All dancers in the Saturday showcase must also be masked (unless it is a solo performance).

All plenaries and keynotes will be livestreamed to offer additional social distancing.

PLEASE BE ADVISED:

For Friday's Urban Bush Women performance in the Reynolds Industries Theatre, all attendees will be required to show proof of vaccination or proof of a negative PCR test within 48 hours of attendance. Testing will not be provided on site.  It is the attendee's responsibility to obtain this proof. CADD is not responsible, and cannot intervene, if attendees are not in compliance with Duke Performances policies.

HOTEL

The AC Hotel Durham has special conference room rates of $129/night for the first 20 rooms booked (plus taxes) and $169/night (plus taxes) beyond that.  The hotel is sold out.

Free private shuttle service is included in your registration fee.  The conference provides transportation in a continuous loop from the AC Hotel to the Ruby all day Friday, Sunday, and Saturday morning; and every 30 minutes until 11PM at all other times on Saturday.

We have used and are friendly with these close hotel options with local complimentary shuttle service (we cannot guarantee that service will be available and have no agreement with these hotels):

Hilton Durham near Duke University
Hilton Garden Inn Durham
Residence Inn by Marriott Durham

PLEASE NOTE: Duke basketball is playing that weekend and most hotels have significantly higher rates and blackouts that weekend.  Please book your accommodations as soon as possible!

TRAVEL

Raleigh-Durham International Airport is an approximately 20-minute drive from the Rubenstein Arts Center and host hotel, with taxi/app fares around $35 each way.

The Durham Amtrak station and several bus lines are a 10-minute ride away from the venue.
